Oh What A Week
Well hello there! I didn’t mean to take a blog vacation during my work vacation, but it turned out that way. I blame Daddy- he’s all old fashioned and not computery, and therefore sucked me back to the time before the interwebz. Yep, it was all his fault.
The whole week was a lot like an acid trip. I mean, I couldn’t feel the hair growing on my legs or anything, but it had that surreal quality to it.
Dad’s visit was incredibly productive. I’m so grateful for all of the hard work he did to help me get the house ready for winter. I’m not so grateful for the bender he went on the last night he was in town, but I’ve long ago resigned myself to the fact that Dad usually has a bender up his sleeve. What do you say to a man who gets falling down drunk after he’s stacked your wood, fixed your toilet, repaired your smoke detector, spent a chunk of his hard earned cash at Lowe’s on your behalf and cleaned your house from top to bottom? He even dusted.
There was a situation at a get-together on Saturday. I will only say that gun safety guidelines exist because weapons can be unreliable, no matter how experienced the handler is. I held a .45 shell in my hand that night that could have easily ended up in someone’s head. Bad things can happen to good and careful people. Just sayin’, ya’ll.
The week ended the way that it started, with Adicus and I up on the Parkway, fetching and shutterbugging. I didn’t stay out long; the tourons were too much and I thought I’d capture the fall color on my own sweet little patch of Paradise.

Glad you had a good, productive week.
Sorry about Dad and the bender. I think the only thing you can do in that case is what you seem to have done, which is grit your teeth and bear it.
Glad, too, that the bullet didn’t end up lodged in someone.

You know, I know he could help it, really, if he really, really wanted to. But he also can’t help it at all. Overall, he’s a damn good egg. I just always hope that this visit will be the one visit that he doesn’t wake me up retching his guts out.

I hear you that its hard when the people we love do things we are not so in love with. You sound like you handled it the best you could have though.

Okay for one, your view is gorgeous! And for two, I’m so uncomfortable about the situation at the thing on Saturday with a gun?! I mean seriously?! Please be careful!
We are very careful, and after Saturday, will be even more so. It was not a violent encounter, it was an honest accident with circumstances that made it more dangerous than it had to be that will not be repeated.

1.) I think, if everyone had a view like that from your back yard, fewer people would kill each other/themselves, with .45s or otherwise. And
2.) What the hell is a touron? It sounds like a new VW crossover.
