And So It Goes
What will a week in the desert do for a girl?
Copious amounts of sunshine and warm dry air lighten her mood and recharge her faded winter freckles.
A mediocre performance review cuts her to the quick and strengthens her resolve to remind her manager just who he is dealing with, when she’s on her game.
It brings fresh perspective to familiar scenery, and a renewed love for her home soil and her sweet farm cottage nestled in a southwestern facing cove in the Southern Appalachians.
That change in perspective, paired with a few precious evenings spent in the company of an amazing person?
It drives a girl to redecorate. Has her making lists of things to do to all of her rooms to get ready for company. Fresh paint, new linens, a good long airing out.
One room on the overhaul list is particularly significant.
The truth is, nothing in this life is guaranteed, and even promises get broken…
Still, I’m looking at paint chips and fabric patterns.
As I sit here, with a steady snow falling, yet another day on the vpn connection, yet another day of not being out and about in the world, with chores beckoning and all the problems I left town with stacked in a neat pile, waiting for my rapt attention…
I couldn’t be happier.
