been a lovefool all my life
crash landing rabbit hole hell
tear swollen eyes lack luster
resolved against another fall

yesterday my sun dawned and set
with thoughts of you
and i knew
you’ve become a part of me

last night i dreamt of birds
soaring over white-kissed ridges
riding thermals up green valley walls
grace of flight embodied

this morning i have wings
cocoa brown feathered freedom
knobby tires crunch packed snow
but my heart soars above the earth

my mind reels, my soul shakes
not fallen but risen
and all the difference is knowing
your heart soars as well
